Amy Gillett
Owner & Artistic Director
Amy Gillett is the Founder and Artistic Director of Expressions Dance Centre. Amy has been studying dance practically her entire life as she began dancing at the age of four. She began as an assistant teacher at the age of twelve and loved it so much that she started taking on teaching her own classes at fifteen. Amy began attending Dance Masters of America’s Teacher’s Training school and became a certified dance instructor. She has also studied with master teachers and choreographers from all across America. Her dance training includes Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary/Lyrical, and Acrobatics. She has now been teaching people of all ages and abilities for twenty-five years at Expressions Dance Centre and is still going strong. Amy has shared her knowledge of and love for dance at many different dance studios, public schools, gymnastic gyms, and dance workshops. Amy has also been invited to and judged for national dance competitions across the United States.
Laura Brasseur
Instructor
Laura Brasseur danced at Expressions Dance Centre for eleven years and was a member of the Dance Trilogy Competitive Dance Team. She began helping with classes as an assistant teacher when she was twelve. Immediately finding a passion for teaching and a greater love for dance, she choreographed and taught her first dance for the competition team at the age of thirteen. Over the years, she has received scholarships for and has attended multiple workshops and conventions including Fuzion Dance Camp in Chicago and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Laura is a certified dance instructor in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, and Modern through the Dance Masters of America Teacher’s Training School program. She graduated from the University of Michigan with bachelor degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience. She continues to work with students at the studio and choreographs for dances throughout the year. Laura is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to continue developing and sharing her creative skills and love for dance with all Expression Dance Centre’s students!
Taylor Lukas
Instructor
Taylor Tripp danced at Expressions Dance Centre for 15 years and was a member of the Dance Trilogy Dance Team. She began assisting classes at a young age and was teaching classes on her own prior to graduating high school. Over the years she has participated in numerous workshops and received dance scholarships. She has enjoyed assisting Miss Amy throughout the years and found the studio to be a “home away from home”. Taylor attended Alma College where she continued taking dance classes and earned a bachelors of nursing degree. Following moving back to the area she returned to the studio as a dance instructor. She continues to teach students of all ages and genres with her love being lyrical and jazz. In her spare time, she is continuing her education and studying at University of Michigan-Flint for her doctorate degree in nursing. Taylor enjoys watching her students grow, learn and have fun as she shares her love of dance.
Jessica McKeever
Instructor
Jessica danced at Expressions Dance Centre for 13 years and was a part of the Dance Trilogy Dance Team. She started as an assistant teacher when she was 12 and discovered a greater love for dance. She continued assisting until she began teaching her own classes once she entered high school. She received scholarships for and attended many dance camps throughout the years, including Fuzion, Inaside, and Broadway Dance Centre. Jessica continued her love for dance at Grand Valley State University, participating in multiple student-led organizations as a dancer as well as a choreographer. She spent 8 semesters with Grand Valley Dance Troupe, 3 of those spent as a choreographer. She also got the chance to work with professional choreographers, honing her skills in specific styles including jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. Jessica graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management Information Systems. Holding a special place in her heart, she wanted to return to the studio after graduation to continue her love of dance as a teacher. She enjoys sharing her passion with others and seeing the joy it brings them.

Brooklynne Shy

Brooklynne Shy has been a part of Expressions Dance Centre since 2007, spending 15 years as a dedicated dancer and 10 of those as a member of the Dance Trilogy Dance Team. Over the years, her passion for dance evolved into a love for teaching—she served as an assistant teacher for 8 years before beginning to lead her own classes in 2024. Brooklynne is currently pursuing a degree in Elementary Education PK-6 at Ferris State University, following a lifelong calling to teach and inspire young learners. She welcomes every student with open arms and is committed to creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment where they can thrive. In addition to her work at the studio, Brooklynne is also a Color Guard Coach at Thornapple Kellogg High School and a Preschool Teacher at Noah’s Ark Preschool. Outside of her professional and academic life, she finds joy in the outdoors—whether she's riding her horse under the sun or snowboarding down winter slopes, she embraces every chance to enjoy the fresh air and stay active.
